Hey everyone! I'm Anastasia, a sophomore majoring in Marketing at UMass. With exam season right around the corner, I know how overwhelming it can get. Trust me, I’ve been there! Managing stress and taking care of your mental health is super important, so I wanted to share some tips that have really helped me stay sane during these hectic times.
I used to think that I could just wing it and study whenever I felt like it. Spoiler alert: it didn’t work. Now, I swear by my study schedule. Breaking down my study time into manageable chunks makes everything feel less daunting. Plus, it ensures that I’m not cramming everything the night before an exam. Pro tip: don’t forget to schedule in some breaks!
I’m not a gym rat by any means, but getting some form of exercise really helps clear my mind. Whether it’s a quick jog around campus, a yoga session, or even just a walk with friends, staying active helps reduce stress and boost my mood. Find something you enjoy and make it a part of your routine.
Studying can get pretty lonely, and isolation can lead to burnout. I always make sure to take breaks and hang out with my friends. Whether we’re studying together, grabbing a coffee, or just venting about our classes, it’s a great way to stay connected and keep each other motivated.
Mindfulness has been a game-changer for me. Taking a few minutes each day to meditate or practice deep breathing can help reduce anxiety and improve focus. There are some great apps out there, like Headspace and Calm, that offer guided meditations specifically for students.
If you’re really struggling, don’t hesitate to reach out for help. UMass has some awesome resources like the Counseling Center and peer support groups. Sometimes just talking to someone can make a huge difference. Remember, it’s okay to ask for help when you need it.
Exam season is tough, but with the right strategies, you can get through it without sacrificing your mental health. Good luck, everyone! You've got this!
